Your garage floor takes more abuse than any other concrete surface in your home — vehicle traffic, chemical spills, heavy equipment, and temperature swings. Whether you need a new garage floor poured from scratch, a worn surface repaired, or a finished coating that transforms your garage into a showroom, Keep It Wet Concrete delivers professional garage floor solutions throughout the Fort Walton Beach area.
New Garage Floor Installation
Building a new garage or replacing a severely damaged floor starts with a properly poured concrete slab. We pour garage floors at a minimum of 4 inches thick — 5-6 inches for shops and heavy equipment areas — with welded wire mesh or rebar reinforcement rated for vehicle traffic.
Sandy soil base preparation is critical for garage floors, where concentrated loads from vehicle wheels and equipment create more stress than a uniformly loaded slab. We excavate, compact, and build up a solid aggregate base before pouring.
Epoxy & Polyurea Coatings
Epoxy and polyurea floor coatings transform a plain garage floor into a durable, attractive surface that resists chemicals, stains, abrasion, and moisture. These coatings are available in solid colors, metallic finishes, and decorative flake systems that hide imperfections and add visual depth.
We start by mechanically grinding the existing concrete to create a proper surface profile for coating adhesion — this step is what separates a professional coating from a DIY kit that peels within a year. We then apply a primer, one or two coats of epoxy or polyurea, and a clear topcoat with optional non-slip additive.
Polyurea coatings cure faster than traditional epoxy and offer superior UV stability — an important factor if your garage door is frequently open in the Florida sun.
Polished Concrete Floors
Polished concrete is a premium option that grinds and burnishes the concrete surface to a smooth, glossy finish using progressively finer diamond tooling. The result is a surface that looks like polished stone, resists staining, and gets easier to clean as it ages.
Polished floors work beautifully in garages that double as workshops, hobby spaces, or showrooms. The process densifies the concrete surface, making it harder and more resistant to abrasion than unfinished concrete. It's also one of the most environmentally friendly floor options — no coatings to replace, no VOCs, and virtually zero maintenance beyond dust mopping.
Concrete Staining & Resurfacing
Acid staining creates rich, mottled color effects that are unique to each floor — no two acid-stained floors look exactly alike. The stain reacts chemically with the concrete to create permanent color that won't peel, chip, or flake.
For garage floors with surface damage but sound structure, a concrete overlay can create a completely new finished surface without the cost of full replacement. We apply a polymer-modified cementitious overlay, smooth and finish it, then apply the coating or stain of your choice.
